San Mateo-Foster City School District P.E. Mission Statement:

"To empower students with the strategies and self-efficacy necessary to promotes the desire to live a healthy and active life-style for all San Mateo-Foster City students."

Physical Education is the planned, progressive learning that takes place during school curriculum time and which is delivered to all pupils. This involves both ‘learning to move’ (i.e. becoming more physically competent and literate) and ‘moving to learn’ (e.g. learning through movement, a range of skills and understandings beyond physical activity, such as co-operating with others and sportsmanship). The context for the learning is through physical activity, with children experiencing a broad range of activities, including fitness challenges, sport, and dance.
